A Time For Giving Back

December 14th, 2009

At Spot for Dogs we love all things fuzzy and fluffy and warm. We love the slobbering and barking and running and dog treats and leashes and dog beds, but  that’s not all…we love all animals. And, there are so many in Atlanta that need our help. That’s why this year we have joined forces with The Atlanta Humane Society to help them to check off these most important items from their 2009 “Wish List”.

But, of course, we can’t do it alone. We need your help! Please help us give them the items they need most by bringing in and dropping off  donations when your special canine friends come to play at Spot for Dogs. We will be accepting your donations through the first of the year, so please give often, and ask others to help too!  The Atlanta Humane Society provides help to the animals that need it most!

*Cash donations can also be  given to our office staff at your time of drop-off or Pick up.

imagesHere’s the Wish List.  Please give all that you can!

  • Gift certificates/cards to: Grocery stores, IKEA, Michaels, Office Depot, Target, local gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters and bookstores
  • Dog bowls (stainless steel), small dog bowls (2 cup).
  • Newspapers for shredding to put in cages.
  • Cat litter. We can only use the regular, NON-CLUMPING clay type; any brand is fine. It does not have to be scented.
  • Old bath towels, hand towels, and small blankets to make beds for sick or injured animals, to help them feel safe and warm, and for drying off after baths. All sizes are helpful from face cloth to bath size.
  • Laundry detergent for the many loads of laundry we do every day. Detergents that get odor and germs out are the best.
  • Food and bedding for rabbits, non-aromatic shavings, bags of timothy hay, and pelleted food are important.
  • Miscellaneous things: trash bags – 45 gallon or larger, paper towels, housetraining pads, baby gates and play pens, batteries, pens, dry erase markers, and hanging folders.

Spot for Dogs thanks in you in advance for your generosity! Please be a part of this wonderful opportunity to help The Atlanta Humane Society’s efforts.

Your Lucky Day…

December 1st, 2009

We know you’ve been wondering to yourself… ”Self- I wish there were just a few more hours in the day, and I didn’t have to try to make a vet appointment around my busy schedule – I wish I could just get everything done in one trip…”

Well, this is your lucky day. Dr. Mike Smith and The Mobile Care Unit from The Clairmont Animal Hospital will be @ Spot for Dogs tomorrow 12/2 from 10am to 2pm to provide your little friend with all his or her vet needs.

The Mobile Care Unit can provide any service that you would have done at your regular vet,  all while your pup is at Spot for Dogs…. isn’t that convenient? Yes, yes it is.

Call us at 404-745-4243 or email us today to discuss any questions about The Mobile Care Unit or your dog getting in tomorrow to be seen by Dr. Smith.

New Dog, New Tricks

November 4th, 2009

We know…there’s an old saying, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. We think that saying is crazy- you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. In fact, you can teach any dog tricks if you bring them in and sign them up for training with Ken or Jeremy.

This is Dolly, she’s a new Spot for Dogs little lady and she’s learning some new tricks. Well, actually she’s learning how to behave around other dogs and people she doesn’t know yet. And, that’s just the begining- after her owners outlined their needs and wants and consulted with Ken, he came up with her training plan. Now she’s starting a whole training program, and we’re really excited to see her progess through it. Don’t worry, we’ll keep y’all updated.

Don’t leave out your little guy or girl. You can always Email us to set up a time to discuss any of your training needs or questions.
